Picea abies ‘Little Gem’ – Little Gem Dwarf Spruce
Spread: 3-6’ (very dense, round to horizontally oval)
Hardiness: Zone 3-7
Growth Rate: Very slow, 1-2 inches annually is optimum.
Foliage: Dark green and very dense, needles totally cover each shoot, similar to Dwarf Alberta Spruce.
Preferred Soil: ph 5-6, moist but well drained.
Common Ailments: None common, very hardy and has excellent resistance to deer browsing.
Attributes: Considered to be a mutation of ‘Nidiformis’ that is smaller in stature. A maintenance free plant that will produce a dome like appearance and is becoming very popular on a standard graft.
