Foliage: Green with yellowish tint, very long 
Hardiness: Zone 3-6 (Most of Minnesota and North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska)
Growth Rate: Medium 
Preferred Soil: ph 5.5-7.5, very adaptable
Common Ailments: rust, blights
Seed: Large cones often in clumps. Seed source is Montana and Idaho.
Attributes: Excellent in shelterbelts because of its wide range of soil adaptabilities. A very common timber tree in the western United States.
